This job is only open to applicants who live in the Czech Republic (with Czech residence) and are registered as self-employed in the Czech Republic (IČO, Czech business ID), and who speak English and at least basic Czech. If you do not meet these criteria, please do not apply.

An established transport company is looking for partner drivers for contract passenger transport. We expect at least some English, a professional manner and a good knowledge of Prague.

Most work

In a car rented from us

No car of your own? We will rent you one of ours: Hyundai i30, Škoda Octavia, Škoda Superb, Škoda Kodiaq, Mercedes E or Mercedes Vito/V-class. This option offers the most work.

Rental prices

In your own car

Škoda Superb, Škoda Kodiaq, Mercedes E or Mercedes Vito/VW Transporter (or a similar class) with enough luggage space for up to 4 passengers with luggage, or a minibus for up to 8 passengers.

External partnership

With your own car as an addition to your current work (for example Uber/Bolt): you get access to open orders and take them yourself according to your availability.

We only accept cars up to 5 years old that carry no advertising and have no taximeter.

What you need

  • Trade licence (concession, Czech „živnostenský list“) – road motor passenger transport with vehicles for up to 9 persons including the driver
  • Taxi driver card (yellow card, Czech „žlutá karta“)
  • Car registered in the taxi register (yellow taxi sticker)
  • English at least at a basic conversational level
  • Smart clothes (dark trousers, light shirt)

The rental price depends on the kilometres driven in the month. The prices shown apply up to 6,500 km; with higher or lower mileage they may differ.

How much you earn

Earnings per ride

For a ride from Ruzyně Airport to Prague city centre you get CZK 525 to CZK 990, depending on the car type and distance. The most common net price is CZK 525 in the SEDAN category and CZK 700 in the MINIVAN category; with premium cars such as the Mercedes E, from CZK 700.

Number of orders

The number of orders depends mainly on your working hours. Demand is highest from 8:00 to 22:00 – in a 12-hour shift you usually manage 6 to 12 transfers, depending on the length of each ride.

Daily takings when renting a car

With an average of 8 transfers a day, your takings are CZK 4,000 to CZK 5,200, depending on the car type. From this you pay for fuel, parking and the car rental, if any. In winter, especially in January and February, there are fewer rides.

Tips

We mainly drive foreign visitors to Prague, for whom tipping for good service is normal: on average CZK 400 to CZK 500 per working day, about 10% of the fare. With premium cars tips tend to be higher.

Do I need my own car?

No. You can drive a car we rent you – this option also offers the most work. Rental prices

Can I drive just as a side income?

Yes. You set your own working hours, and you can work with us alongside another job, as a part-time job, or alongside Uber or Bolt.

How do I get the yellow taxi driver card?

You can apply at any municipal office with extended powers (obec s rozšířenou působností). No exams are needed for the yellow card: just fill in the application form, have your photo taken on the spot and pay a fee of CZK 500. The card is issued for 5 years. In Prague you can get it at Prague City Hall (Magistrát), Jungmannova 29, in the taxi department (oddělení taxislužby, odbor dopravních agend). More on the City of Prague portal.

How do I get the concession (trade licence) for taxi work?

It is the concession “Road motor transport – passenger, operated with vehicles designed to carry no more than 9 persons including the driver” (Czech „Silniční motorová doprava – osobní provozovaná vozidly určenými pro přepravu nejvýše 9 osob včetně řidiče“). You can apply at any trade licensing office (živnostenský úřad) in the Czech Republic.

What you will need

  • Czech citizens: ID card and driving licence; if your registered business address is not at your place of permanent residence, also the consent to use that address as your registered office.
  • EU citizens: in addition, a residence permit for the Czech Republic and an extract from the criminal record.

Costs

  • CZK 500 if you already have a trade licence and are extending it to taxi operation.
  • CZK 1,000 if you are getting a new trade licence.
What is it like in winter?

There is work all year round, but in the winter months, especially January and February, the average number of rides is lower.
